Some of the most delicious Cab Franc I’ve had comes from Italy, and this one is no exception. This was a gift from a wine friend, who knows just how much I’ve been into this grape. “7 Otto Nove” is a Cab Franc blend from grapes grown in 2007, 2008, and 2009 (hence the name). This beautiful, natural wine that has really been allowed to show off its personality, although not at all rugged. It’s actually very elegant and refined, especially for a blend, and gives off a completely different impression than the farmy, dirty (and often green pepper) effect of the typical Chinon. Highly recommended, if you can find it.
