Je pense à mes amis dans les vignes qui a perdu tant de bourgeons à cause du gel. Je pense au climat qui change chaque année qui passait. Les petit souvenirs de notre enfance en tant qu’espèce sont nul si on ne peut pas les partager avec les prochaines générations. Comme si ça n’existe jamais...
Turkey has long been overlooked as part of the ancient wine belt, but winemaking dates back over 7,000 years in Anatolia. So much could be said about the history alone, but for brevity’s sake one fun fact is that there are over 800 indigenous grape varieties still present in this region. I was lucky enough to speak with Udo Hirsch about his small production Gelveri Manufactur, which he started with his partner Hacer Özkaya, who make wine with almost no modern equipment, using küp (amphora) to ferment and age them.
